How to get a trial or a preview instance of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (D365FO)?

I received a lot of questions on how to get access to a D365FO instance just to see how it looks and to navigate around.

While I am not a fan of giving a prospect unguided access to a large ERP system like Dynamics, Microsoft offers two options:

  • 30-Day Trial: this option gives you limited access to a D365FO instance where you can navigate around and see what the application has to offer. This option does not provide full functionality and expires after 30 days. You can click HERE to create your trial account: https://trials.dynamics.com/Dynamics365/Signup/operations

  • Preview Subscription: While the above option may work for the majority of us, there are cases where a prospective client wants to test drive the application outside the parking lot so to speak (having full admin-access, LCS, code extensions, etc.). In this case, you can go to this LINK to sign up for a Preview Subscription.  Here is an excerpt from that URL:

The subscription you create will give you a Microsoft Online test tenant and a Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services project where you can deploy an environment. You will also set up additional users in your Microsoft Online tenant and gain experience with the following service administration capabilities.

Please note that the Preview Subscription is by invite only. You will need to coordinate with your partner or Account Executive to receive an invite.
